Frequently Asked Questions

You asked, and we answered! Check out our most frequently asked questions about our fiberglass pools and spas.
Any pool will float if not installed properly. This also refers to heavy gunite pools. Hydrostatic pressure is what pushes a pool out of the ground. This is when you have water pressure pushing up from underground. This is why swimming pools are designed to be kept full of water at all times. Fiberglass pools are designed and built to be structurally sound and will not pop or float when properly installed and maintained. Unlike vinyl liner pools which can experience issues with floating or buckling due to water pressure, a fiberglass pool's shell is rigid and able to withstand pressure from the water. Additionally, fiberglass pools are installed using a bed of gravel to provide a stable base, which further prevents any movement or shifting. However, in rare cases where there is a problem with the installation or the pool is not properly maintained, there is a possibility that a fiberglass pool may experience structural issues that could cause it to pop or float. Therefore, it's important to have your fiberglass pool installed by a professional and follow the manufacturer's maintenance guidelines to ensure its long-term durability and safety.

Latham fiberglass pools have a limited lifetime warranty. You can read through their warranty information here.

We carry an incredible selection of pool shapes and sizes, including traditional freeform, kidney, rectangle, classic, modern freeform, and, of course, our pool and spa combos. The sizes vary from small to extra large, so there’s a fiberglass swimming pool for every backyard.

While fiberglass swimming pools and spas are prefabricated, there are a number of options when it comes to customizing. At David Pool and Spa, we can add water features, lighting, slides, and more!

Our average time to install a fiberglass pool is about seven weeks from when the pool is set in the ground, but this is also contingent upon things like weather, holidays, etc… which can cause delays.

The deepest Latham fiberglass pool option is eight-feet deep, perfect for swimmers looking for a bit of adventure!

Compared to other types of pools such as concrete or vinyl liner pools, maintaining a fiberglass swimming pool is easy. The non-porous surface makes cleaning a breeze. If you choose to add a salt cell generator, which we recommend for all of our pools, you can save time and money on water care chemicals.

While we don’t currently offer a regular route maintenance service, we do offer our Green to Clean service. This covers anything you need to be done to get your pool or spa back to a clean and safe condition – whether it’s a simple balancing of the chemicals after a storm or a total pool clean-out after an extended closing.

At this time, we currently don’t offer pool opening or closing services. However, if you find any issues while you’re opening your pool, you can give us a call and schedule our Green to Clean service.
We recommend testing your pool or spa water at least once a week – twice a week during the height of use. We also encourage our customers to have their water professionally tested at David Pool and Spa at least once a month during the off seasons and twice a month during the swimming season to help prevent costly imbalances before they occur.

Yes! We do! If you reside within 25 miles of our store, you can sign up for our subscription service, and we’ll deliver your chemicals for you with no delivery fee. Anyone outside of 25 miles can choose in-store pickup!

The ideal pH level for pool or spa water is generally between 7.2 and 7.8. If you’re having trouble achieving the correct pH levels, our selection of BioGuard® and SpaGuard® chemicals can help. Bring in a sample of your water. We'll test it for you and help you find the right products for a safe and clean pool.

Depending on whether you have a saltwater or freshwater pool or spa, you may need either salt or traditional chlorine in order to properly sanitize your water. Other water care products you’ll need include calcium, alkalinity, and pH balancers. You may also need some speciality water care products such as shock or algaecide from time to time. We carry everything you need to care for your pool or spa water in both our retail store as well as our online store.
Saltwater pools are naturally resistant to algae growth. With a fiberglass pool or spa, you’re protected even more from algae growth, as the non-porous surface makes it harder for algae to grow and thrive. However, if you do find yourself battling the slimy green monster, BioGuard® and SpaGuard® have amazing algaecide products that will help get your pool or spa back into healthy condition. You can also request our Green to Clean pool service, and our pool professionals will come to your home and tackle any algae issues that arise.
Absolutely not. Pool chemicals are specially formulated to not only kill bacteria in the water but keep water a safe place for swimmers. There are liquid chlorine products intended for swimming pools. Never use a household chemical or any other product that is not specifically created for use in a pool or spa as they may cause more harm than good.
